Background
Neighborhood Housing Services of Camden, Inc. (NHSC) was established in 1988 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) certified, community-based housing development corporation (CHDC). Under its "New 21st Century Direction," NHSC, Inc. provides home ownership Edication & Counseling services to low, moderate (LMI), and median-income, first time home buyers in Camden City, Tri-County, and LMI Census Tracts throughout NJ.
Mission
NHSC’s mission is to renew pride, restore confidence in the benefits of education, promote reinvestment, and revitalize neighborhoods through homeownership, economic development, and neighborhood planning, in partnership with residents, businesses, government agencies, nonprofits, and other stakeholders.
Goals and Objectives
To help Individuals overcome hindrances to home ownership through our First Time Home Ownership and Purchase Services (HOPS) program.
To increase home ownership and establish, through a public/private partnership, a comprehensive, professional, and coordinated pre-purchase homeowner education and counseling delivery system in the region.
To expand the number of first-time home buyers successfully sustaining home ownership by raising the quality, scope, and availability of comprehensive post purchase homeowner education and counseling.
To participate as a community resource provider to develop educational and economic opportunities for LMI families.
